The Elevator Pitch Competition, also known as EPiC, is a major international startup event organized by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park, one of the largest incubators in Asia. An ‘elevator pitch’ is often referred to as a short summary of a startup’s business model. The EPiC event takes the traditional elevator pitch one step further: by asking startups to deliver one-minute pitches inside a real elevator!
One hundred startups were selected to pitch their ideas to twenty judges — including Joseph Fung, Managing Partner of Saltagen Ventures — in a 60 second elevator ride at Sky100, Hong Kong’s highest indoor observation deck at the International Commerce Centre. Startups from around the world came to EPiC for a chance to win an investment prize of up to $120 000 USD. Out of the one hundred finalists, four Canadian companies were invited to pitch at the event, including Saltagen’s portfolio company, HelpWear. In the end, Cathay Photonics Ltd were the finalists of EPiC, who received pooled investments from the judges. Congratulations to all who pitched!
