Hi Marley, I used to say I could “die” in my job meaning I could work it until past retirement age. Some jobs in government are like lifetime appointments. I never imagined the job would end. And when I left the 2nd time, my boss hinted that she would be open to hiring me a 3rd time! But there was no going back. I was very serious about my work. It was a huge part of my identity despite not wanting to get stuck. It took a toll on me in every way. I even had random dreams about this job while in Buenos Aires. It was hard to shake the identity. But I am good now! It would be hard for me to work a traditional role. I look forward to your piece as I do all your pieces. Thanks for reading and responding.
