Sam Solakyan, Global’s CEO, Expressed Praise For His New Colleague

Sam Solakyan, Global’s CEO, expressed praise for his new colleague: “Good leadership is the cornerstone of any successful organization — public or private.
As DA Steve Cooley led over 1,000 prosecutors, efficiently and ethically, and his track record speaks volumes about both his talent and character. His career as District Attorney is inspirational and I am confident Mr. Cooley’s proven leadership and management skills will translate seamlessly to the corporate sector. He brings a wealth of experience to our organization, and we are very grateful to have onboard.”
Starting as a law clerk in 1973, Steve Cooley spent 27 years climbing the ranks in Los Angeles County. This culminated with his election to the office of District Attorney in 2000. His election campaign featured a record-breaking 15 debates, and resulted in Cooley capturing nearly two-thirds of the vote. Upon winning the election, he became the first attorney with trial experience to be elected District Attorney since 1984. Cooley was subsequently re-elected twice — in 2004 and 2008 — becoming the first Los Angeles District Attorney in the last 70 years to be elected for three consecutive terms
During his reign as District Attorney, Cooley made vast and innovative contributions which helped establish the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office as the nation’s largest prosecutorial agency. His six years of experience as a reserve officer with the Los Angeles Police Department provided him with unique insight which he applied when leading a massive reorganization of the DA’s Office. The dramatic changes implemented by Steve Cooley have resulted in prosecution efforts which are widely considered to be unparalleled in scale and effectiveness. In the process he also cultivated a team capable of fighting crime on the streets and in court.
During his tenure, Cooley created the Public Integrity Division which prosecutes politicians whose misconduct has gone unpunished for years. His accomplishments in this arena (and others) have garnered numerous awards and commendations. Cooley also formed the Justice System Integrity Division, which holds judges, attorneys, police officers and others working in the justice system accountable if they break the law.
“I have admired him for many years and his career has had a huge influence on me, and in fact inspired me to become a reserve duty peace officer. I hope his presence here will have the same influence on the entire Global team. Just being around him drives you to be a more effective leader.” said Sam Solakyan, CEO of Global Holdings Inc.
Cooley stated that the admiration is mutual: “I have been fortunate to call Sam my friend for several years now and have watched his accomplishments in both the business and philanthropic arenas with great pride. I am honored to work with him.”
