Why I Joined SPJ — Asia Burns

Asia Burns is a sophomore JMC major from Alpharetta, GA. Asia is the Head Copy Editor for The Samford Crimson and Vice President of External Relations for Samford PRSSA.

“I joined SPJ because I wanted to surround myself with likeminded people. As a journalist, I am accustomed to hearing that my profession is not valuable and that my field is dying. I wanted an environment filled with people who see the value of storytelling and share my passion for communication. SPJ has given me a support system where I can grow professionally and thrive with complete confidence in myself and my career.”

Asia’s hard work and positive attitude have been invaluable assets to our chapter’s growth and development. Thank you Asia, we appreciate all you do!
