Lost Annals of Gaia — Vol. 5 (Nuggets of Knowledge from the Discord)
Hi DFK Fam —
Here is Vol. 5 of the Lost Annals of Gaia. There’s some really helpful information in the Discord and I’ve compiled it in one spot.
Make sure to bookmark my index of DeFi Kingdoms Articles — where you can find all my articles easily in one concise spot.
I created the Lost Annals of Gaia because there’s a lot of information shared that isn’t available (yet) in the whitepaper and I wanted a consolidated location for these really helpful game mechanic details or game updates.
GAME MECHANICS ARE EVOLVING — I’LL BE DOING MY BEST TO GO BACK AND REVISE ITEMS THAT ARE NO LONGER TRUE — BUT ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE LATEST ANNALS OF GAIA FOR UPDATES.
Current through 12/7/21

HERO MECHANICS:
XP from Mining/Gardening compared to fishing/foraging
Will be the same as the other professions:
Reminder that Professions are not everything — There are many features to come:
This is important to remember since everyone is valuing everything only based on professions but there’s a lot of unknowns and a mythic or legendary that doesn’t have an aligned profession gene could still be OP. We touched on a bit in prior volumes that professions aren’t the end all be all. The reality is — are you going to be sending a mythic on profession genes when combat comes out? Probably not.
Profession Skill Level Increases:
These are almost like a quest reward. This is the +0.x that you get to the applicable profession sometimes when running the quest. This chance to get this increases when you find things.
But notice that he says the more you skill up your profession and start to outpace the level of the profession quest (i.e. right now as of December 7, 2021 we only have lvl 0 Foraging and Fishing quests). That means as you start to get higher and higher levels of foraging and fishing from these lvl 0 quests that you’ll get less and less profession skill level ups (although your other rewards will continue to increase).
HP/MP Gain on Level
Recessive Genes (Again)!
More thoughts from me to come on this in a standalone guide — stay tuned, but it wasn’t entirely clear from the discussions in Vol. 4 on recessives whether the dominant gene of the summoner that didn’t make it through could become a recessive of the summoned hero:
QUESTS:
Mining and Gardening Differences from Foraging/Fishing
Stamina usage will be fundamentally different from Foraging/Fishing in the sense that it won’t be a “5–7 stamina per quest attempt” type of model and instead will just burn stamina every x minutes where x depends on whether you have the mining (or gardening) gene or not.
For the locked Jewel mines you don’t send in groups, just one hero at a time, but for the gold mines you can send multiple heroes.
Mining is a passive activity that you send Heroes to do. Only one of your Heroes can visit the JEWEL mine at a time, but you can assign several to mine for gold.

As always NEED TO STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES. GAME MECHANICS ARE CONSTANTLY EVOLVING SO ITS IMPORTANT YOU STAY UP TO SPEED. ALWAYS READ THE LATEST VOLUMES OF THE ANNALS OF GAIA FIRST AS LATER INFORMATION OFTEN SUPERCEDES PRIOR INFORMATION.
Foraging and Fishing Quest Rewards:
The drop rates for the initial Foraging and Fishing quests were dropped by Raspberry in discord.
Someone asked how the base % chances of receiving items can change based on stats and the level of your profession.
So what is the maximum benefit? Previously Hubert has said 100 skill level for professions and FOR THESE INITIAL FORAGING/FISHING QUESTS — 300 stats (aggregate of the two applicable stats). So as you approach those — the odds of getting nothing goes to 0 and that percentage starts allocating to the other drops.
Fishing/Foraging Bonus “Catches”
Rune Drop Rates:
Rune drop rates are around 1% if you have the profession gene that aligns with the profession quest you are running, and 0.2% chance without it (5x multiplier on RUNE DROP RATE by having the profession gene).
Rune Drop rate is not increased by your profession skill but egg drops rates (and other drops, presumably as they leech off of the 50% chance of nothing as you level up the profession skill and stats) do:
Higher Level Profession Quests
Recall that right now as of December 7, 2021 we only have the lvl 0 foraging and fishing quests, there will be higher ones that require you to have a certain level of fishing or foraging to even do them. Hubert hinted towards the next ones being worked out but no definitive timeline:
Recall that in the AMA from December 6, 2021 with the Dev team — Frisky noted that higher profession quests were in the work and that Hubert had plans for new profession quests every 10 profession skill levels:
“Hubert is working on adding a new profession quest every 10 levels, so you’d have to be profession skill level 10 to even do one of those quests. This would entail potentially new zones. Can’t talk about timeline on this, but we don’t want people hitting these caps and sitting there for too long, so maybe around the time that we add land you may start seeing other zones outside of the capital with additional profession quests.”
Impact of Elements and Location of Hero (on the top of their card front side) on Quests?
Nothing yet — but hinting towards it. Fox also said in an AMA at one point that elements will have a big impact on combat.
