To take a professional photo you don’t actually need a Dslr or a expensive camera. You can take amazing photos just with your iPhone, yes people with only your iPhone. Just like the photo below:

Yes, you might be wondering that this photo is edited. It is in fact edited in Lightroom cc from my iPhone which is why I’m going to show you the before of this photo.

The before of the edited photo

Well, the editing did polish the photo but overall the picture quality is very professional. So today, I’m going to show some of my tricks on taking professional photos with only your iPhone to take your photography level to next level.

  1. Take photo’s in portrait mode

This is no brainer when taking photos with iPhone, the portrait mode is overall the best mode in iPhone’s camera. Not only it takes best quality photos but also adds a blur effect on the background just like a professional camera. So next time when you take a photo, don’t forget to put it on portrait mode first.

2. Don’t be afraid to try new angles

The best way to take professional photos is trying new angles, taking photos from different angles not only gives you amazing photos but it gives you lot of varieties to choose from, so instead of taking your photo from one angle try to take it from 4 angles at least. Like take it from left, right, up & down. These 4 angles are essential for taking a professional photo. You can also try taking a photo from the back just like this one:

So whenever you take photos, try to experiment with new angles.

3. POSING!

I know- I know, you think it’s not relevant to taking photos with iPhone but that’s the point, a lot of people only focus on buying the best camera whereas you can take amazing photos from any camera. You just need to strike a pose, don’t just stand there and wished for the photo to be good. All the photos above are posed none of them are standing still or straight even the one taken from the back. The best advice I could give is keep moving, keep your body in motion. Try to look left & right until you get the perfect picture.

Bonus Tips & Tricks

1. Dress for the occasion

It doesn’t matter how good your iPhone’s camera is or how good of a poser you are. If you are not dressed for the occasion then none of that matters. You won’t get the end result you want, being well dressed is one of the main aspects of taking amazing photos where that be with your Dslr or iPhone, because if you look good then your photos will look good. As Simple as that, just take a look at the photos below and decide for your yourself:

Both of these photos were taken from iPhone 11 Pro Max

2. Always edit your photos

Look no matter how good your photo is, it always needs to be edited. Editing will make your photos 10x more better than it actually is. So its important to use a good editing platform. My recommendations for smartphones are Snapseed & Lightroom. These two editing apps are simple and easy to use which is good for beginners. I personally use Lightroom cc on my phone and all the photos above are edited on Lightroom cc. If you edit your photos on PC or Laptop then I recommend Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom. These two apps are perfect for editing your photos on your PC or laptop.

So keep learning, keep trying new angles and the most important one is to have FUN while doing it.
