What was interesting about this email was that the following day, I received another email from the Square recruiting team informing me that “the team decided to move forward with other candidates they felt were a better fit at this time.” I guess my resume was screened by two different recruiters, which goes to show that passing the resume screen is subjective and depends heavily on who reads your resume.

From the email above, it seems that one recruiter got your resume from a conference database, while the one mentioned here likely saw your resume from the online app that you mentioned above.

I think this speaks more to the advantages of using alternative routes (personal references, conferences, hackathons, etc.) to get your resume seen by recruiters.
