Joining IBM

Last week I started a new job at IBM as a developer advocate. I am so excited! What it means to be an advocate is that it’s my job to be excited about technology and share that excitement with others! (How cool!) Part of my job will include educating myself on new and interesting areas of tech as well as educating others. My job also includes being generally helpful within the developer community, talking with users of IBM products, as well as those who don’t! To me, this is one of the best aspects of the gig! (If you ever need someone to bounce ideas off of, or just a rubber duck, get in touch!) I’m really looking forward to digging in to the developer community and forging new relationships.

Specifically within IBM I’ll be focusing on the suite of Watson Developer Cloud tools, machine learning, and data science. It will be part of my job to create useful and creative demos to make our tools easier to understand.

I’ll hopefully be seeing many of you at a conference, meetup, hackathon, or coffee shop soon, don’t hesitate to say hi! In the mean time, make sure to follow me on Twitter (@samuelcouch) to find out which events I’ll be at and reach out to chat!
