Why put yourself in danger when you can do that to your subordinates? Heroes are the ones leading Samurai armies into battle, risking Samurai safety with no fear. What truly noble and good fellows they are! Well, to be fair, they’ve earned this right by climbing the hierarchical ladder over years and years of service! So what does this hierarchy look like? Let’s dive right in!
🔺Hero Level 1 — Peasant
“You put the plow aside to hold a sword!”
This default Hero class is automatically assigned to any player, who has at least 1 Samurai. It’s hard to call the Peasant a full-on Hero. He is not unique, is not an NFT & is a leader in name only. And while Peasants can technically lead more than 1 Samurai, they have to be the first in battle, making way for higher-ranked allies. Does it mean that Peasants can not win? Of course not! They can see the map and choose the smartest strategy out there, based on landscape specifications. It’s highly likely that the army will follow wise Peasants. Silly ones? Probably not.
🔺Hero Level 2 — Ronin
“You’ve lost your beloved lord, but you have become free!”
The Ronin is the first unique Hero in the Samurai VS Hero selection. Players holding the Ronin Hero type go to fight following the Peasants. The junior allies have already explored the map, and the Ronin knows exactly how many RYO tokens are stored in every village. Accordingly, the Ronin (and all Heroes above him) can make an informed decision on whether to fight for a particular village or not.
🔺Hero Level 3 — Feudal Lord
“Is there anything better than a fair battle? A battle, where you are the winner, of course!”
Feudal lords, like the wise commanders they are, wait for the best moment to enter the battle. Feudal lords know the steps that the Ronins and the Peasants have taken, which means they are aware of the tactics that most allies adhere to. If the Feudal lord likes the chosen strategy, he can follow in example of the lower-ranked Heroes by strengthening their positions with his combat units. Nevertheless, Feudal Heroes have a fairly large army, so they can also act entirely independently.
🔺Hero Level 4 — Daimyo
“Power lies in knowledge! You know the name of every Samurai and every horse in your army… although you can’t always tell one from the other.”
Battle-shaped Daimyos understand the importance of having the most complete picture of their army possible. Therefore, Daimyos not only see the steps that the lower-rank Heroes took, but also know the powers they possess. After all, standard Samurais are one thing. Those enhanced by Artefacts…Completely different story! Clearly, it’s wiser to keep with the latter!
🔺Hero Level 5 — Shogun
“You are so powerful, it seems you have everyone wrapped up in your spy network! Here’s hoping you’ve got enough fingers to pull the strings… “
Shoguns know it all. They are not only aware of their allies’ steps and power, but also of all enemy army movements! Thus, it’s not an understatement to say that Shoguns have the most complete idea of the power balance on the game map — all that remains is to get the soroban and to calculate where it’s best to send their huge armies. Just don’t forget one thing — enemies can have their own Shoguns, with their own sorobans!
