🎬🍿Wedding Season (Netflix)

Starring Suraj Sharma & Pallavi Sharda

Movie: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Acting: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Plot: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

🎞 Pressured by their parents to find spouses, Asha and Ravi pretend to date during a summer of weddings, only to find themselves falling for each other.

Some more insight: Asha who works in micro finance is quite successful. Her parents, her mother however, is pretty desperate to get her married, thus creates a social profile of Asha on a matrimonial website. This is where Ravi enters. Ravi is an MIT graduate, an aspiring DJ, and helps out his parents with the restaurant on the side as well. Asha and Ravi go on an arranged date. Asha makes it clear that she isn’t actually interested in him. They meet for the second time at a wedding where they keep on getting pestered by aunties of the community to find partners. This is when Asha tells them that they are dating confusing Ravi, but he decides to go with it. So in order to avoid getting heckled by nosy aunties and their parents, they decide to fake their relationship. But as they continue through their ruse they begin to fall for each other.

Tropes: Indian, Arrange Marriage, Love Marriage, Fake Dating, Weddings (duh!)

Do I recommend? — Go watch it now!

My review:

As an Indian, we are aware of the concept of arrange marriages, and sometimes it creates a certain non existent pressure when you start to grow older. This movie romanticises the idea that finding true love is possible via an arrange match.

The portrayal of an Indian family and the weddings and the nosy aunties is pretty spot on I’ll say. It wasn’t a white washed desi movie to be precise. It was pretty great.

The outfits! the fashion was just amazing in the movie. Asha’s fashion looks throughout the movie were so good! Ravi’s fashion looks were just a cherry on top with Suraj Sharma’s good looks.

This movie stars Pallavi Sharda as Asha and Suraj Sharma as Ravi. Both of their parents are pressuring them to find a partner. Their parents end up making their accounts on a social matchmaking site where they match and their parents arrange for a date. As Asha & Ravi meet their interaction is very casual and flirty and friendly. You can see their chemistry right from that second. When they decide to fake date, you can almost see how reluctant Ravi is to fake date her because he actually likes her. Quickly they fall in love but find out Ravi has been hiding something which causes a small rift. However it’s solved quickly (as well, we are towards the end of the movie) and they have a happy ending. Pallavi Sharda & Suraj Sharma’s chemistry is so good that you can see how well their characters work together. When they fake date you can see they are falling for each other. And boy, this movie hits right to your emotions. The acting is fantastic. I can surely say it’s one of my favourite movies now.

Watch the movie on Netflix, it’s streaming! Linking the trailer down so give it a watch.
