There I disagree with you. The ideology of Christianity is “conversion through persuasion”, a peaceful process; whereas the ideology of Islam, as set out in the holy writings (Quran and Hadiths) is “conversion through conquest”, with Muhammad himself modeling it; and his model being followed throughout the next almost 1400 years since.

I DO agree many have abused, misused, and even distorted the message of our Lord, and how to win souls; indeed, that was the basis for the Reformation largely, along with just plain evil and unscriptural practices by the “leaders” of the primary “church” of the time. Sadly, most of the Reformers’ followers have gone down the same paths now as those they sought to reform in the first place. That’s also a fact.

But it doesn’t alter the basic fact that Islam is the reason people commit violence in it’s name, in and of itself. I have a very dear friend who came away from Islam, in which he’d been raised, and who, as a young man, very nearly joined Osama bin Laden’s groups, but something, which he can’t explain, stopped him doing so. He abandoned that belief system after seeing the dichotomy between the earliest teachings of Muhammad, and those that came later and abrogated them, and how it was practiced in daily life around himself. At present, he considers himself an atheist; but he’s open and exploring. We have talked a great deal about this and comparing belief systems, including others besides these 2.

Even the evidence of kids born and raised here in the US, who turn to the violence advocated by Muhammad do so, because it’s what he taught; not because they “don’t know better”, or haven’t heard other ways. They are practicing fundamental Islam. Whereas, a fundamental Christian offers his beliefs and doesn’t force them on others at pain of death if they refuse. That’s left to Jesus to deal with, which we firmly believe He will do, and that fairly soon.
