CardioNXT and AFTx Announce Successful Clinical Trial Enrollment

A professor of medicine with Stanford University, Dr. Sanjiv M. Narayan has developed novel, technology-driven atrial fibrillation (AF) imaging techniques and is involved in the launch of the Stanford Arrhythmia Center. Dr. Sanjiv M. Narayan’s research provided some of the first studies for mapping AF, which supports the work done by companies including Cartofinder, Acutus Medical, and CardioNXT.

The latter medical technology company came to the fore in 2016 with the raising of $1.5 million in equity funding toward the creation of an integrated suite of cardiac arrhythmia products. Established by a cardiac electrophysiologist and engineer, CardioNXT and affiliated AFTx announced in June 2018 the achievement of full enrollment for the clinical trial “Real-time electrogram Analysis for Drivers of Atrial fibRillation” (RADAR).

Focused on 65 patient/subjects with longstanding and persistent AF, the RADAR trial involves an assessment of high resolution contact-mapping technologies that identify heart tissues linked to AF. The value added by this new mapping approach is described as being a combination of safety and ease-of-use associated with next-generation contact-based catheters, and addresses an “unmet need in cardiac electrophysiology” centered on the accurate and timely identification of problematic areas within the heart.
