Layoffs everywhere

The software engineering job market is looking grim in March 2023.

• Facebook/Meta is laying off 10,000 employees in late April
• Amazon just announced they’re cutting 9,000 more jobs
• Indeed.com just laid off 2,000 employees
• Glassdoor is cutting 15% (140 employees)

Where can I still apply?

To everyone out there looking for a job, best of luck. I’ve compiled a list of some name-brand companies that are still hiring, and I’ll write a bit about how I would approach job hunting now.

At the time of writing:

• Apple has 600+ software engineering openings
• Microsoft has 111 software engineering openings
• Adobe has 216 software engineering openings
• Flexport has 48 software engineering openings
• Square still has 74 software engineering and data science positions
• ByteDance (maker of TikTok) has 245 software positions
