Biking seems sensible, but only if one lives in a metropolis. I know many people do, but I happen to live up in rural-ish Ontario, Canada, and a bike becomes useless for about 5 months out of the year, and difficult to use during the other months due to road traffic (highway oriented streets, lots of trucks, and not generally safe). Mind you, if I lived in the city, a bike, and maybe a smaller cheap car for certain circumstances would be perfect
