If you’re looking to have a good time in Las Vegas but don’t want to break the bank or suffer blisters on your feet from walking The Strip, Fremont Street Experience is the perfect alternative.

Packed with free entertainment, affordable rooms, and great dining, this location has everything you need for a memorable experience worthy of the slogan “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”

What is Fremont Street Experience?

Located north of The Strip in Downtown Las Vegas, Fremont Street Experience is a pedestrian mall that spans over six blocks and is covered by the world’s largest video screen. Fremont Street was the first paved street in the city and was the center of commerce and entertainment long before The Strip became what it is today. It is especially famous for the vintage neon signs that make it an iconic backdrop for movies, wedding photos, and even selfies.

Free Entertainment

There is enough going on at Fremont Street to keep people of all ages occupied and entertained all day long. A trip to Las Vegas can weigh heavy on the wallet, so finding free activities can be a game changer for anyone traveling on a budget. Here is a list of things to do without spending a dime:

1. Watch the Light Show

This magnificent overhead barrel vault canopy screen is comprised of 49 million LED lights that shine so bright that it can display video shows even in broad daylight. Known as Viva Vision, the canopy is famous for being the largest video screen in the world and runs hourly nighttime shows pertaining to holidays, major entertainment events, Area 51, sports, patriotism, and more. During the hours in between light shows, a variety of different genres of music plays continuously on a 550,000-watt sound system that runs all throughout the venue.

2. Watch the Street Performers

From all over the world performers of all ages, shapes, and skill levels come to Fremont Street Experience to try their luck and share their talents. As you walk down the pedestrian mall you may find buskers in circles performing a variety of acts including contortion, hand balancing, stage magick, urban dance, belly dance, statue miming, bucket drumming, rapping, and more. In addition to the more traditional forms of busking, there are some acts that are remarkably unconventional.

You may come across an act called “Kick Me in the Nuts” where a man invites tourists to kick him in between the legs for a tip. Another act called “Rock out with my Cock out” features an overweight guitarist wearing nothing but a rooster for underwear playing popular rock songs on his portable speaker.

No matter where you go there is something to look at and laugh at, and it’s practically impossible to get bored at Fremont Street Experience.

3. Watch the Stage Shows

This year, Downtown Rocks! Is offering a free concert series at Fremont Street Experience. The series will feature a wide variety of bands including Smash Mouth, All American Rejects, Soulja Boy, and more. You can find the full schedule on the FSE website. When the stage isn’t occupied by bands, the Dancing DJs provide live entertainment by performing acrobatics and prop manipulation while mixing some of the most popular dance songs of our times.

4. Make Friends

Fremont Street Experience is one of the world’s largest attractions where people from all over the world gather for the purpose of having a good time.

This is by far one of the easiest places to make new friends, as the overall spirit is one of celebration, and what better way to celebrate than with friends?

Adding new people to your group is a great way to increase your fun free of charge, and some of the memories that you make together could be unforgettable. Many people that meet in Las Vegas end up having so much fun together that they establish annual Sin City reunions and friendships that last a lifetime.
