This should be required reading for anyone in the professional service industry. Be it a marketing company, a freelance career, a side consulting job… anything that involves you getting paid money for your skills. Our contracts always gets paid up front now. You think that would detrr people, but as you mentioned in your article… it doesn’t. If someone doesn’t want to work with you because of it, they probably weren’t going to pay you anyway.
Hiring and asshole was also a great move for our company. We work with an accounting firm called CAP3. They’re not assholes to us, actually quite nice, but they have got us paid from old contracts no one had any intention of paying before. Everyone needs a solid accounting leg, even if it’s not internal.
