I’ve never read this book and never felt any desire to… but you may have changed my mind.

Even though the book is Francie’s story it is written as third person omniscient, so the reader gets to see what her boss is thinking during that conversation. It is a great scene. I think the main take-away is to have a viable second option to your current job that you are totally willing to go do.
