GOQii — Reviewing the fitness tracker
Fitness trackers have become a rage and I decided to try out Goqii which was gifted to me by a friend.
GOQii is a unique model that sells the band with a personal coach subscription of 3,6,12 months and charges for the band accordingly. The coach works with you remotely and monitors your
- Sleeping Activity
- Water Intake
- Steps Taken
- Food Consumed
The coach after having a conversation with you over a call and understanding your fitness goals analysis the data provided by the user in the app synced with the band and recommends changes accordingly.

What works for me?
The band algorithmically calculates the number of steps you’ve taken so far in the day.
- For people with a sedentary lifestyle, this is a real eye opener and makes you realise how lazy you've been
- The coach, on the other hand, monitors your daily activity and motivates you to keep your activity going.
What doesn’t work for me?
- The band goes crazy when I am riding a bike and a km can add around 500–700 steps in the tracker and in the car it’s around 100
- It does not have a sleep tracker and only tracks your sleep when you switch it to sleep mode. (this has to be done while travelling to avoid those erroneous steps it calculates).
- The coach can only push you but they really do not understand the micro level of fitness. They can do just this much as they are having conversations over a chat box.
Verdict:
People who are lazy and need some push to begin somewhere, this band works for them as the coach will constantly push them, via SMS, to do that.
While for me — the steps tracker is what keeps me going and the coach bit is just not working out, for they really will not be able to do much at the micro level like a full-time personal gym trainer would.
