Moving to a Less Expensive City to Buy a House Isn’t Always the Best Idea

This couple’s story strikes me as a pretty extreme example. There has to be a middle ground. For example: for $300,000, I couldn’t get much of anything on the west side of LA, where I live. But that $300k could get me a great house in other parts of the country, WITHOUT much renovation. I think that’s what people are getting at when they say, ‘move to a less expensive city.’
