Have you ever wondered why we have hair? Hair has a protective function. Hair maintains the temperature of the scalp: in cold weather it warms, in hot weather it cools the head.

Superheroes also have hair, but why do they need it?

Take a look at the Hulk. We know him as a very strong superhero whose body increases significantly in size.

Hulk’s skin is resistant to any impact and can even regenerate.

From a biological point of view, the Hulk’s skin’s ability to regenerate is useful not only for wound healing, but also to provide sufficiently stretch when the Hulk grows in size. Muscle tissue appears to regenerate as well.

And here an interesting question arises: what is the adaptive function of the hair on the Hulk’s head?

It seems to me that most likely the hair is saved from Dr. Robert Bruce Banner. Because most of the time the superhero is in the body of an ordinary human. And as we know, an ordinary human needs hair for thermoregulation (an additional aspect of hair form ordinary human can be social).

But if the Dr. Robert Bruce Banner turns into the Hulk, will the hair on the Hulk be the same hair that was on the Bruce Banner’s head?

I think not. And I’ll give you a few reasons:

When Bruce Banner turns into the Hulk, his head enlarges, in this process the skin on the head actively stretches and regenerates at the same time. Moreover, hair is also involved in this process.

Hair — filamentous structures of epithelial cells that become keratinized as they are removed from the hair follicles. Since the main part of the hair is inanimate, therefore, updating the hair on the head is not a change in existing hair, but the growth of new hair in place of the old.

So when Bruce Banner becomes the Hulk, his hair must fall out quickly. And in place of the fallen hair, new hair must instantly grew.

At the same time, after turning into a superhero, a bunch of fallen old hair should always lie next to the Hulk.

There is another important point. During the transformation of Bruce into the Hulk, apparently not only the skin is renewed, hair falls out, but new hair must also grow.

When the transformation goes in the opposite direction — from Hulk to Bruce, then this hair will have to fall out. And around Bruce at this moment, a bunch of fallen hair appears.

So, I think that you have already understood that MARVEL was foolish, forgetting about these important piles of hair.
