Netgear Improves Connectivity in Homes

During the International CES in Las Vegas earlier this month, Netgear released a number of products that are aimed at improving consumer access to Wi-Fi, which is an integral part of the lives of millions of people. Netgear is one of many companies that has made an entire industry out of Wi-Fi and associated technologies. The potential that new products such as Smart Home security and new, faster Wi-Fi routers have are nearly boundless, but only if they’ve got the spectrum to work with.

A thriving ecosystem for Wi-Fi technologies has grown out of unlicensed spectrum in 20 short years, and its newest products are no exception. At CES Netgear showcased Wi-Fi routers that provide coverage throughout a home, removing any “dead zones” that had previously existed, allowing users to access high-bandwidth services such as Netflix at processing speeds of up to 5.3Gbps. And they also showed off they have created extenders for existing routers that offer up to 10,000 square feet of coverage.

Wi-Fi is not just for connecting your laptop or tablet anymore; companies like Netgear are using Wi-Fi to connect the myriad devices, sensors and appliances in our homes that will make up the Internet of Things (IoT). Netgear is maximizing on the IoT trend by creating Smart Home security systems, which are equipped with visual and audio capability, 1080p HD quality picture, custom motion alerts, and 7 days of cloud storage for video. The advancements in home security is one of the many benefits of Wi-Fi.

We applaud Netgear’s innovations to improve Wi-Fi connectivity and any other individual or business who seeks to do so. If you love Wi-Fi as much as we do, please sign our petition to let policymakers know that you want more access and faster Wi-Fi speeds.
