Radical Roots

A grass roots movement starts with the grass and the roots my friends. If we want to heal our communities, empower ourselves and others, create healthy sustainable economies, and break a system that creates and feeds off the imbalance of power then we need to start with the true basics. What do we need to not only survive, but thrive? We need clean air, clean water, healthy/nutritionally dense food, and sustainable energy. Now ask yourself who controls these things? This may come as a surprise, but nearly all aspects of those things are controlled by our industrial agriculture industries, who are some of the most powerful entities on this earth and control most of our political positions through their power and influence, and thus control the entire formation, workings, and shape of our society. If you simply want healthy food, clean air and water I have a solution for you. If you want to create stable jobs, create a sustainable economy, one that will empower the people, and help us build stable communities I have a solution for you….If you want to save this planets ecological stability, save animals and people alike, and start a true and radical political revolution that will STAY, then I have a solution for you, and interestingly enough the solution for all of these things is the same.

Beaten Path Garden, a small urban farm that me and a fellow friend have started in downtown Gainesville which has led to us starting and helping with others nearby.

We bring our agricultural systems back into our cities, taking away the monopoly of power these agriculture industries have, the power they use to shape our entire societies all the way down to the racial injustice and education, and we give it back to ourselves. We create our own jobs growing, distributing, and selling the food and energy we need, healing ourselves with nutritionally dense food. All the while we are creating vast amounts of more green space to sequester carbon, clean the air, filter the water, and buffer our roads and building from the suns radiation, cooling our cities. We power our cities with solar and sustainable energies that are controlled and maintained in the market by us.

When we do this, when we stop buying anything from these industries, these tyrants who are in the pockets of every politician, who dictate how we live our lives, we leave them and their millions of acres of raped land useless….and force the market to shift and reward these industry farmers for turning their land back into forest and native landscapes that will then sequester carbon, stabilize our climate, and let life on earth begin healing. No one person, president, cabinet, or political structure is going to do this…it must be us. It is time for US to take this all back and change this system.
