Universities were free before, during and after Thatcher. It was the Toni Blair’s Labour government that first significantly increased the number of students and then, realising that they can’t pay for all, introduced tuition fees.

Yes, society benefits from more people having a chance to get good education that they can use to get a decent job. But it does not benefit from thousands of young people without much academic abilities who went to do media courses, journalism, politics etc. in mediocre universities only to be able to get a job in McDonald’s.
I wonder why lefties always end-up just repeating meaningless phrases after getting caught on the fact that they can’t do Arithmetics and they can’t read? Both you and Diane Abbott seems to prove this :)
