Well written D. I can’t say I agree with all 100%, however, I will say this. Before the Healthcare law was passed. We were paying $287 per month, with decent coverage. Since it has, passed I have seen our cost increase each year to now we pay $1,173 per month. $1,173! Let me repeat that $1,173 PER MONTH! What is worse, the coverage is worse! Not only do we pay these crazy high monthly fees, but also it doesn’t cover 80% of the costs. Our out of pocket last year was over $3,000. And this coverage isn’t for a 7 person family. JUST ME AND MY WIFE, in good health. I question, What a minute, my monthly bill went up astronomically AND it covers less…..Are Your KIDDING ME??? And believe me, I have been shopping around.
And on the 2nd amendment, the CDC did a study on guns and found that guns are used by law abiding citizens to prevent crime or in self defense between 500,000–3,000,000 a year, depending on the year. It’s a study no one wants to talk about, but President Obama commissioned the CDC to conduct the study, I believe it was in 2012.
While yes, guns are dangerous, in the right hands, they save lives. The number of law abiding citizens with Concealed Carry licenses have increased to around 15,000,000. And 5 states do not require a license to carry, so the number is actually higher. These are law abiding citizens that have taken the training, passed the tests, been certified, background checked, fingerprinted, and have gone to the sheriff to answer the questions to receive their license. And guess what, the homicide rates have dropped dramatically since the 1990’s. I wish guns weren’t needed, but there isn’t a Garden of Eden anywhere close.
