Nice piece. I’ve been a devotee of the Spritz since back in 2001 when I was lucky enough to live in Venice for a year and they of course marked many a well-lubricated passage from afternoon to evening. As such a fan, I tried hard to get them back then upon return to the US and ended up having to instruct many a bartender on how to make this “strange, foreign concoction.” And I’m pleased that this fine blend has become nearly ubiquitous yet even though you can get the spritz seemly everywhere these days, still can’t ever manage to perfectly recapture the blissful feeling of sipping a sunset-colored spritz as the shadows lengthen over the old stones of a campo in Venice.
