Well-designed interfaces look boring

Bienisimo! I have had so many conversations with business stake-holders in my career where it goes something like this: “don’t worry about design, the most important thing is data. design is only going to get in the way so let the engineers deal with this and you focus on marketing” to which they reply: “design is the most important thing.”

ALL of my highly successful bosses/managers were entirely focused on numbers and data, while my unsuccessful bosses mostly wanted to be part of the design process because they thought they were artists or read Steve Job’s bio. Their favorite word was “innovate”
