Shouldn’t We Fix Poverty Before Migrating to Mars?

I agree with the premise of the article, but I don’t think the author is actually wanting to know why things are the way they are. Unfortunately very little money is spent on Mars missions compared to what is spent on maintaining debt. Microscopic even.

What have the author done to curb poverty? Spent time with the homeless here in the states? It’s a pretty hopeless proposition. “The poor will always be with us.”

The other issues are totally unrelated. Mass prisons is a revenue and public oppression issue. Female abuse in the US is usually related to socioeconomic issues at the micro level. Are we assuming poverty and spouse abuse are correlated? I’m skeptical.
