Be Your Brother’s Keeper
Adam and Eve had 2 sons, Cain was the older brother and Abel was the younger brother. Cain was a farmer and Abel was a shepard. Cain did not follow God, but Abel did. One day they were asked to make a sacrifice and Cain tried to sacrifice the food from his field but God would not accept Cain’s sacrifice. Abel made a sacrifice of one of his best sheep the way that they had been commanded to sacrifice to represent Jesus and his sacrifice was accepted. Cain was made about the offerings and wanted Abel’s land and flocks.

Satan convinced Cain to kill his brother when they were alone. God knew what had happened to Abel and so he asked Cain what had happened. Cain said,
Genesis 4:9 — And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?
Because Cain didn’t want to obey the commandments, Jesus made it so he could not grow crops anymore and would have to wander the earth. Cain thought that the curse was very bad.

Cain left the rest of his parent’s family with some of his other brothers and made a city that he named after his son Enoch that many people would come from.

ACTIVITY
Have the children practice sharing something and being nice to their siblings as though they are Cain and Abel learning to get along.
