Code Red
To the owners and vendors of Circle K, 8702 E. Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ
I am a long-, long-, LONG-TIME customer of your store.
I’m talking decades. Since I was walking home from Sahuaro High School in the late 1980s.
For about 30 years, I have been coming to your store. Buying soda.
For about 17 years, since the release of Mountain Dew: Code Red, it’s been almost the ONLY thing I’ve bought at your store.
I don’t drive, so I don’t buy gas. I don’t use tobacco and I don’t drink coffee. I don’t buy lottery tickets because I took math classes and I’m not a moron.
I’m now finding out you’re removing the slot for Mountain Dew: Code Red in your fridge display.
I’m now finding out your Pepsi vendor has ceased supplying Mountain Dew: Code Red.
This is not acceptable.
If I were to calculate, I buy one soda every day at least. Let’s call it 350 days a year, conservatively. When you STOCK the one-liters (sometimes you fail, here), I buy them at $1.99 each, and I usually don’t take advantage of the deal to buy two. You’re getting SOOO MUCH MONEY from me.
That’s about $700. $696.50 in fact. Per year.
Not counting the times when I might buy two.
Not counting the times when I might buy a candy bar or chips or your MEGA-priced ice cream.
About $700 that the QT at Broadway or the QuikMart a bit up Speedway will now be getting from me.
Per year.
I just defeated cancer this year. I walk daily as part of my cancer recovery. I just created my own small business, and I work from home.
Walking to your Circle K is, at times, the only time I really leave the house.
I love spending my hard-earned money at your store, and I LOVE seeing the shining faces of ALL of your cashiers. I feel like I know them all, and EVERY SINGLE ONE is VERY nice to me, day in, day out.
If you stop carrying my Red Mountain Dew… you’re losing a lot.
I checked with the manufacturer. The product is not going away.
Please wake the fuck up and CONTINUE SELLING MOUNTAIN DEW CODE RED.
-sincerely,
Sebastian Kunz
(this letter will post to Facebook, Yelp and Google as well, and paper copies will be brought to your cashiers daily until I receive a reply.)
