We’re hiring: Head of People

Second Home is a creative accelerator — an iconic workspace and cultural venue that brings together diverse industries, ideas and teams, all in the pursuit of great work.

To support us in our mission to nurture creativity and entrepreneurship in cities around the world, we are looking for a Head of People to own the core HR functions and the employee lifecycle from recruitment to retention.

Working closely with the wider team, this role will be the principal point of contact for all HR activity across the business, including all Second Home sites and head office.

Salary: £50–60k DOE

Second Home, Hanbury St

This role will:

  • Take overall control of all HR functions, centralising all current procedures across multiple sites
  • Develop personnel related processes and policies ensuring consistent standards are applied throughout a prolonged high-growth phase
  • Work with stakeholders to scope, design, plan and implement people strategies
  • Lead the organisational planning process with a strong focus on succession planning, key person retention and development
  • Own the recruitment strategy and process
  • Help scale the HR team as the organisation grows
  • Deliver all HR administration including contract and payroll
  • Proactively manage HR systems in order to ensure data integrity and accuracy
  • Ensure Second Home is compliant employer on any labour law and regulations
  • Track key metrics (e.g. recruitment, retention) to ensure HR is successfully supporting the Second Home team

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a hands-on leader who can centralise, manage and deliver a complete HR function
  • Have experience working within a fast paced start-up environment
  • Understand key legal, regulatory and compliance issues that impact a business at a local, regional and global level
  • Preferably possess CIPD qualifications and have experience in learning and people development
  • Have strong facilitation, influencing and conflict resolution skills
  • Be a competent and confident individual who has solid problem solving and analytical skills
  • Be open minded and innovative, with initiative, drive and the ability to implement change
  • Be quick to understand and adopt Second Home’s vision and future growth strategy, having the skills to add value from day one
  • Be able to adapt to change while ensuring best practice is implemented at all times
  • Have a great personality and a willingness to be a friendly, insightful and proactive member of a dynamic team.
