AI is a very powerful technology because it works faster than a human and with zero error. AI covers many fields; it is good when the AI-powered tool could help to prevent cybercrime, but AI is bad when it comes to hacking, because using AI, many attackers can create hacking tools and exploit a targeted network to gain access to the whole network.

In November last year, OpenAI released ChatGPT, an AI program that can communicate with people in a way that is natural and humanlike. This has sparked a lot of interest in AI and its potential uses, which is great!

The chatGPT is a favourite tool of DarkWeb users, and the attackers show their interest in the chatGPT for exploring the latest trends and technologies.

ChatGPT has content filters that prevent it from providing anything harmful to users, like malicious computer code.

ChatGPT could easily be used to create polymorphic malware, says the CyberArk Report.

A new report from security firm CyberArk found that a chatbot created by OpenAI is very good at creating malicious code that can mess with your computer. Cybersecurity experts have been worried about this potential change, though the chatbot’s ability to create more complex types of malware has not been widely known yet.

What is polymorphic malware ?

A polymorphic malware is a virus, trojan, worm, or spyware that constantly changes, making it difficult for investigators to detect. This malware comes with a variety of features, like changes in filename, compression, and encryption.

To hide malware, encryption is used, and using the encryption method, malware is not easy to detect. The malware code changes every time it runs, but the virus body is not changed.

What Other researchers Think ?

Some researchers also think that ChatGPT doesn’t seem to be able to create code that can be used to create ransomware like the strains seen in major hacking incidents in recent years, like Conti, which was infamous for its use in the breach of Ireland’s national health system.

Preventions:-

  1. keeps software up to date.
  2. Back up Your Data Regularly.
  3. When you see a link or attachment on a web page, be careful. These things can be dangerous if you click on them.
  4. Be careful when visiting websites that you don’t trust. Some websites might be malicious or compromised, meaning they could be using tricks to steal your personal information or infect your computer with viruses.
  5. Do not plug in or attach any unfamiliar removable drives to your computer.
  6. Use tools to see if someone is doing anything strange on our computer. This could be things like downloading something they’re not supposed to, or causing something to happen on our computer that shouldn’t.
  7. We make sure that third-party software meets our internal security standards. This means that the software is safe to use.
  8. Update passwords.
  9. Use Antivirus
