My Road To Code (Week 1)
About a year ago, I made probably one of the greatest decisions of my life when I decided to teach myself how to code. For those of you who don’t know what coding is, it’s basically another way of saying computer programming. Now programming is basically the art of writing the instructions for the physical hardware(computer, Iphone etc) to follow i.e. software. Now my ultimate goal is to eventually get hired as a full-stack developer and from everything I’ve understood, it’s going to take A LOT of work but I’m confident that if I work smart and most importantly, consistently, then I will no doubt be rewarded for my hard work.
I’ve decided that it would be really beneficial for me if I document my progress here on my Medium blog because first, it’ll help me tremendously in holding myself accountable and keeping me focused. And second, it’ll show other people the amount of work I’ve been putting in and hopefully inspire others to up their level of grind. I’ll be posting the results of my journey once a week (every Friday). So without further ado, here’s my progress up to this point.

Devoloper Meetups I’ve attended :
Meetup.com has been an amazing tool in helping me meet other people interested in learning how to program. I’ll admit, I haven’t been to as many meetups as I should but I’ll make sure to fix that over time. For now, here are the meetups I’ve attended:
- Group: B’more On Rails Event: Monthly meetup with guest speakers (August 2016)
- Group: JrWebDev Event: Second Mondays Code Sesh with guest speakers (November 14)
