Yet we can afford to pay for tanks the military doesn’t want, a wall that won’t work and aircraft that are essentially hanger queens. We can afford to bail out farmers (on a regular basis) who are good at growing stuff, but not at business, bankers who fail. We have military bases that are unwanted except by congress critters who have constituencies in need of jobs. We can spend trillions on that sort of thing, why not a few billion to create a universal healthcare system that in the end benefits everyone, well, except for the medical and pharmaceutical industries, goodness knows we need to keep their profit margins up…..
