This week, Senate Democrats tackled a variety of issues critical to preserving American democracy: election security, clean energy, and gun violence prevention.
Stand Up for Election Security
The Trump Administration’s Dirty Power Scam
On Wednesday, the Trump administration finalized its plan to repeal the Obama-era Clean Power Plan and replace it with the Affordable Clean Energy (ACE) rule.
Senate Democrats, led by Leader Schumer and Senator Carper, spoke out against the legislation.
Not only is the ACE rule a direct threat to our environment, it is a public health and economic disaster.
We must reject the ACE rule and support a clean energy economy.
Demanding a Senate Vote on Universal Background Checks
As of June 21, it has been 115 days since the House of Representatives passed universal background checks.
Since then, an estimated 11,400 people have been killed by preventable gun violence.
On Thursday, Senators Schumer, Murphy, and Blumenthal joined by Speaker Pelosi, Gabby Giffords, and gun violence advocates, stood outside the United States Capitol to demand that Leader McConnell call a vote on universal background checks.
