Senate Democrats Week in Review: October 27 — November 2, 2019
On October 30, Senate Democrats used the Congressional Review Act to force a vote on a Trump administration rule with huge impact on the future of health care for Americans with pre-existing conditions.
This was one of the biggest policy votes of the year.
One of the most damaging efforts by the Trump administration to sabotage our healthcare system is a rule that could further push junk health insurance plans that do not include protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions.
Senate Republicans had the choice to vote on whether or not to defend protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions.
But Senate Republicans chose to stand with President Trump and vote to allow these junk health insurance plans to flood the market.
In celebration of Halloween, we released a video showing the Little Lobbyists trick or treating through the Senate to talk to Senate Democrats about how they’re fighting to protect Americans with pre-existing conditions.
And they weren’t just dressed as superheroes. They’re real superheroes fighting for health care protections for all Americans.
Last week, our country welcomed the news that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is no longer a threat. This is a great victory for the safety of our American allies and partners.
But the fight against ISIS is far from over. President Trump still needs to tell Congress and the American people what his plan is to contain the released ISIS prisoners and ensure the enduring defeat of ISIS.
