This is a big deal for veterans…

The Senate overwhelmingly supported and passed the VA MISSION ACT, legislation that empowers our veterans and provides our nation’s heroes with the timely and quality healthcare they deserve.

Named after @SenJohnMcCain, the VA MISSION Act includes provisions we have both pursued to establish access and quality standards for veteran eligibility to care in the community and strategic planning to improve the VA’s integrated healthcare system. It has been an honor to work alongside my friend and colleague Senator McCain to reform access to community care in the VA and to provide greater choice for veterans.

I spoke on the Senate floor in support of the VA MISSION Act and shared 12 ways this legislation helps us Complete The MISSION and provide for our nation’s heroes:

1.Conducting Oversight to Meet the Intent of Congress:

2. Consolidating Community Care Programs:

3. Improving Care Coordination:

4. Reforming Community Care Eligibility:

This one is so IMPORTANT it deserves a BIG video →

4. The #VAMISSIONAct reforms community care eligibility — a big win for veterans. This legislation replaces the existing, arbitrary 30-day/40-mile eligibility requirements with simply what is in the best interest of the veteran.

5. Allowing Recourse for Veteran Access:

6. Providing Full Access for Episodes of Care:

7. Mandating Regular Market Area Assessments:

8.Supporting Rural Hospitals:

9. Allowing Access to Walk-in Care:

10. Providing Funding Flexibility:

11. Increasing Availability of Telemedicine:

12. Fostering Innovation Within the VA:
