I’m a sublime guy and i’ve tried all the others. Here is my point of view:

Vim is pretty great to work on 1–3 files, I still use it whenever I want to set simple changes but when you have projects with 100 files well, it becomes tedious even with extensions.

I’ve tried all the others and more you mentioned and you’re right, they’re slow and complete hogs.

The reason atom and code are such hogs is the same that slack. Developers still rely too much on Electron so that they can simply code everything in javascript (reluctance to learn something else?). Electron is a complete OS being emulated, Chrome. I actually wrote an article about this.
