BJP raps Congress over development in Assam

New Delhi, February 25: Accusing the Congress of doing vote bank politics in Assam, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said that Congressmen are involved in giving ration cards as well as the identity cards to the illegal immigrants coming from across the border.

“The Congress for last several years has been exploiting the people of Assam in the name of development and prosperity…they are giving shelter to the people coming from Bangladesh,” said BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javdekar.

Referring to the visit of Congress vice–president Rahul Gandhi to Assam, Javdekar said that his visit was welcomed by bandhs and violence. “The people of the State are fed up with the Congress’s rule of autocracy,” Javdekar said.

He said that BJP will definitely do well in Assam. “And under Narendra Modi’s leadership there will be an overall development of not only Assam, but of entire northeast,” he said.
