’Dignity of Raj Bhawan defiled’
GUWAHATI, February 25: “Raj Bhawan or the Governor’s House is meant to host only those people as its guest who are regarded as State guest and they hold a certain official status–either government or public. But off late it is seen that this prestigious building has been defiled by the State government as it has allowed people with no official status to stay in it,” alleged noted social activist and former Cotton College principal Deven Dutta in a telephonic conversation with The Sentinel.
“Rahul Gandhi, who is just a Congress member, on what basis has he been allowed to stay in the Raj Bhawan, which is meant to host State guests. To make for Rahul Gandhi’s rally a success, Tarun Gogoi led State government has misused public property. Misusing public property is an old tactic of the party and it was nothing new today,” Dutta further alleged.
The noted social activist further said that the current official residence of the Chief Minister is actually the State Guest House, and the CM is allotted an official residence within the capital complex at Dispur.
“The palatial residence of Tarun Gogoi is actually the State Guest house and is not the official residence of Tarun Gogoi. The Raj Bhawan is meant to host only VVIPs and Rahul Gandhi is not a VVIP. He is a fake VVIP. He might hold an important position within the party but that does not make him a VVIP. The Raj Bhawan is meant to host guests like the President or the Prime Minister,” Dutta added.
