Mizoram Assembly from March 18

AIZAWL, February 6: Mizoram Assembly Secretariat officials on Thursday said that Governor Vakkom Purushothaman has summoned the session of the Mizoram Legislature from March 18 next.

“The detailed programme of the session would be chalked out by the meeting of the business advisory committee chaired by the Assembly Speaker Hiphei and it would be revealed soon,” the official added.

Even though the session beginning from March 18 would be the budget session, the Planning Commission is yet to allocate the State plan outlay for 2014-15 and the State Finance Department did not know whether the Finance Minister Lalsawta would present a regular budget or not.

“As the Union Budget is likely to be delayed due to the coming LS elections, permission might be seeked to present a regular budget based on the plan size of the current fiscal year,” said Lalsawta, adding, “Seeking vote-on-account for many months could jeopardize the budget spending.”

Lalsawta further added that the budget could be appropriated by presenting second supplementary demands after the allocation of the plan outlay by the Planning Commission. (Agencies)
