Naga musicians to raise fund

DIMAPUR, March 11: In a show to express solidarity to Rengma Nagas of Karbi Anglong who are staying in relief camps following the recent communal flare up, internationally acclaimed Naga musicians will be staging a concert to raise fund, the proceeds of which would be donated towards the education of the displaced Rengma children.

Renowned Naga musicians including Alobo Naga and the band, Zowe Madrigal led by Nise Meruno and world acclaimed guitarist Joey Woch would be performing live on March 15 at Rengma Baptist Church, Dimapur, from 5 pm onwards. The musical show has been initiated in association with the Spark- Venture Production — a non profit making social organization with ‘Light your world’ as the theme of the concert.

In an interaction with the media-persons on Monday afternoon at Hiyo Cafe, the organizers informed that 100 per cent of the proceeds of the concert would be donated towards the welfare and improvement on the condition of the displaced children, particularly their education.

The musicians present during the press conference expressed optimism that through concerted efforts, they could give a “little hope, restore a little faith and help the crisis-struck children dream again along with the help of other like-minded people.” They said the theme ‘Light your world’ implied opening the eyes of people to the plight of the Rengmas in Assam as much as doing one’s part to help bring smiles to the displaced children.
