NDA to raise illegal infiltration issue with Dhaka

New Delhi, June 9: The NDA government at the Centre is all set to settle the infiltration and all other issues related to Bangladesh on an urgent basis.

President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday said that his government (NDA) will tackle the issue of infiltration and illegal immigrants in the Northeastern region on priority basis.

Addressing the first session of both Houses of Parliament at the Central Hall, the President said all pending fencing work along the Northeast border will also be completed.

“The issue of infiltration and illegal immigrants affecting the Northeastern region will be tackled on a priority basis and all pending fencing work along the Northeast border will be completed,” he said.

The President said the government will lay special emphasis on improving the intra–region connectivity and border infrastructure in the Northeast as well as in Jammu & Kashmir.

Immediately after Pranab Mukherjee’s presidential address in the Parliament, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Jawdekar took up the infiltration issue. “We are serious on the issue of infiltration. We will complete the fencing of the remaining porous border very soon. In fact, we will also raise the issue of infiltration with the Bangladesh government,” Jawdekar said.
