Fabula and syuzhet

This is the concerning the actual narrative of the play. The fabula talks about the way the film is told and the syuzhet is the chronological actions in the film.

Vladimir Propp’s Theory On Character

Propp’s theor establishes common archetypes that can be slightly changed to fit almost every story line. The archetypes are:

  • The Donor
  • The Villain
  • The (Magic) Helper
  • The Princess
  • Her Father
  • The Dispatcher
  • The Hero
  • The False Hero/Anti Hero

These archetypes can all be applied to a single character or can each be a different character but in most films, these are applicable.
