Good point about IoT — ”Who owns your equipment?”. I think it is a good case for establishing a legal framework, which would require vendors to transfer all the necessary IP to public domain in case if they take actions to render sold goods/software inoperable.

This would ensure that consumers are protected from hostile actions by vendors.
