To celebrate the end of National Ferry fortnight (6–20 May), we’ve named the top 4 reasons your next ferry trip should be to Efteling! The fairytale theme park in the south of Holland largely takes inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen and Brothers Grimm.

1- Attractions

All the attractions have a handmade element which gives the park a wonderful sense of enchantment! There is a beautiful Fairytale Forest with nostalgic stories that come to life right in front of you including well known fairytales such as Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Gretel and Rapunzel. You’ll be introduced to some Dutch fairytales too!

Efteling has a range of accommodation to suit all families, large or small. The Efteling Hotel has themed rooms which mean you can live like royalty in the King suite, but remember to take your crown off before bed! Holiday Village Bosrijk, has apartments with a separate room for the children, or if you prefer a home away from home, you can choose a luxury lakeside woodland house each with their own unique view. There are several restaurants to experience in the park, alternatively you can order a pizza delivery straight to your door by bicycle.

Efteling opens its brand new accommodation on 31 May this year, Holiday Village Efteling Loonsche Land, which features a hotel as well as 65 stunning holiday houses. You’ll find rooms among the trees connected by bridges, dune and heathland houses, some are even partly underground! All the accommodation is within walking distance of the park.

3- Rides

The huge range of rides and attractions ensures there is something for all ages, from the thrilling free falling Baron 1898, to Droomvluchtto; the indoor dark ride which enters the enchanting world of fairies and elves. This year is really exciting for Efteling as they will celebrate their 65th anniversary by opening their largest ride to date. The family friendly attraction, Symbolica: Palace of Fantasy, will open on the 1st July and will take guests on an adventure through the palace.

4- Live shows

Take a seat and watch the stunt riders battle it out in Raveleijin, one of their action packed live shows! End the day watching the biggest water show in Europe, Aquanura, which includes 900 lights, 200 fountains, music and fire.
