I am in IT, and I see the same trend. I have worked for banks the last 7 years and they all believe open space is the new religion. They seem to think they’re hot, just for doing that. It is, actually, extremely distracting. I do not code, I am more on the functional side, working with the coders day in day out. Sometimes there are small rooms with doors, but those are taken all the time. As Cliff Berg says: only very courageous decision-makers are going against that dogma.
