Shishir Adhikari — Army to Dartmouth!
This is one part in a series of veteran profiles spotlighting Service to School (S2S) and our VetLink program, which connects veterans with highly selective colleges and universities.

Hometown: Syangjha, Nepal
Intended Major: Biology and Spanish
What did you do in the military? Health Care Specialist (US Army)
How did you hear about S2S? I found about S2S online when I was looking for help to get admitted to elite schools.
Why did you decide to pursue college? Without education, I felt a little empty inside. I also have a desire to always strive for progress and I believe that higher education is the best way to do it.
How has the transition been from the military to civilian life? The experience that I gained by immigrating to the US at the later stage of my life helped me immensely in transitioning from military to civilian life.
What’s your favorite part about Dartmouth? Small class sizes and a focus on undergraduate studies.
What advice would you give to future applicants? I never thought I would get accepted to an Ivy League institution. The hardest part is to believe in yourself and take the first step. My advice would be to do that - believe and take the first step.
What are your goals post-graduation? After finishing the undergraduate degree, I am planning to attend graduate school. (Medical School)
