Mind and Muscle

I believe the mind plays huge role in our attempt to pack on muscle or lose weight. There are times where you fail even before stepping under the bar, you psyche yourself out of it. It’s amazing to see what can be achieved with a positive mindset. Easier said than done though!
When people want to build muscle, many immediately think of lifting as much weight as possible. Sure we all like to see the numbers go up, but many forget the actual contraction. In other words they can’t feel the ‘squeeze’.
If you can’t feel the targeted area working then you are not performing the exercise correctly; consequently you will build muscle at a much slower rate.
Many can’t bring themselves to select a lighter weight to perform the exercise correctly focusing on the aforementioned squeeze. What is this down to?
Ego.
They want to show off and look like the big man/lady in the gym lifting those big weights.
The need to portray this image to others who you probably see at most for 90mins a day for five days is all down to their insecurities.
Where do insecurities lie?
In your mind.
Forget what others think, reduce the weight, perfect the form ( technique) of lifting weights and you’ll reach your goal, be it to add muscle or lose body fat.
