Georgina- glad to lend a few thoughts as a male in the United States.

I’m fortunate in that I’m tall for a short guy (if that makes sense)…but I encountered a number of ugly posts in social media. Mostly women “short shaming” vertically challenged men. Perhaps its revenge for being mocked due to their respective heights, weights, etc. Tough to know. However, an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth leaves us all blind with dentures.

In her book, Shortchanged, Tanya Oshensky is an author/lawyer who addresses your question on pay gaps due to height bias…plus other not-so-pretty affects of society’s height bias (e.g. use of HGH by parents on children and bone lengthening surgery).

In Malcolm Gladwell’s book “Blink,” he highlights the fact that 30% of Fortune 500 CEOs are 6'2'’ or taller — compared to 3.9% of the U.S. population. Probably some natural born leaders. However, I’d argue there are probably a few vertically gifted people who ride the wave of society’s height bias.

At some point we’ll look back and say: “remember when people were paid based on their sex/race/height?”
