According to sources, Gen.G have finalized and signed a deal with Japanese organization NORTHEPTION to acquire their highly sought after members Kim “Meteor” Tae-O (김태오) and Lee “bail” Sung-jae (이성재).

Meteor will join as a player, while bail will continue on his position as coach for the team. The deal has been said to have already gone through, with the two members set to join in the coming days as the initial roster-lock comes closer to arrival.

Meteor and bail both joined NORTHEPTION as part of the initial rebuild of the Japanese roster following the disband of the second-place-finishing iteration of the organization during the APAC Last Chance Qualifier, the latter joining as the team’s new coach. In 2022, following the addition of Derialy in place of Xandrite, the team were able to qualify to Masters: Copenhagen in a 3–1 LAN upset over ZETA DIVISION, the third-place runner ups of Masters: Reykjavik previously.

Despite going out in groups, Meteor put on a star performance as the primary player for NORTHEPTION, being one of the highest rated players in the event. He would keep up this performance heading into the East Asia LCQ, where he would follow up on his previously impressive stats by having the highest stats out of everyone in the whole event, despite going out third overall.

Gen.G, who have recently announced open tryouts to the public for their VALORANT team, will now need another four players and a sixth-man to complete the roster. The team is expected to move forward with a mixed roster across Asia, with trials soon to move forward.

Gen.G should now be:

  • Kim “Meteor” Tae-O (김태오)
  • Chris “Elmapuddy” Tebbit [Coach]
  • Lee “bail” Sung-jae (이성재) [Coach]
